It may not be barbecue season but its defiantly Storm Barbara season in the north today. The winter storm is on its way but that didn't stop me getting out and about even if it was just to my local (not so) hot spot. These images were taken at sunrise on Roker beach only a stones throw from the spot I was at yesterday. The tide was way out but on its way back in towards the rocks. Just as well as the beach is almost totally void of any interesting foreground details at low tide. With wellies on, I plugged out into the surf and set the camera up on the tripod. The colour in the sky was fantastic which is often the case when stormy conditions are forecast. Due to the lack of interest on the beach itself, I used the foam caused by the waves to give some contrast and a sense of action. I followed the tide as it moved further towards the shore line and to the rocks. Now I had the foreground I was after but the colour in the sky was fading fast. Still, I am very happy with the images I came home with and had fun editing them whilst feeding my face with cheese crumpets and coffee. I love days like this!
