Chemical Beach Sunrise

A new location for me this morning. Chemical beach at Seaham. I originally went there looking to photograph some old iron waggon wheels that are in the surf but as there were up to 10 other photographers doing the same thing I decided to leave that to another day! Getting to the beach is a bit of a risky business. A muddy and very slippery grass bank leads you to huge granite boulders put there to stop erosion.Boulders you have to very carefully climb over. If anyone finds a torch somewhere between them its mine!

The light was looking very promising even an hour before sunrise as the camera was picking out the slight red glow in the clouds whilst i was at the top of the cliffs, a glow that warranted the dangerous decent. When down safely it was obvious that this was a fantastic place for photos. A huge rock pillar dominates the beach and all around were remnants of the beaches industrial past. The tide was on the way out which was a good thing as if it was coming in I dont think I would have risked it. Still, Here is the result. I managed to get two photos from that location before the light went. Hope you think it was worth the effort too.
